Why We’re Proud to Support the GUAFC Euro 2020 Challenge in Aid of the Gavin Glyn Foundation

When InvestinU directors Cara and Eoin heard about the GUAFC Euro 2020 Challenge in aid of the Gavin Glynn Foundation, they knew it was something special and that they would support it. After all, it’s an opportunity for InvestinU to support a worthy cause with a group of fantastic team players who never shy away from a challenge. Teamwork and a challenge? Well, that’s just their thing.

The Cause

The Gavin Glynn Foundation believes that all children with cancer deserve the best of care, and their mission is to help them to receive it. They have helped over 140 families from Ireland to battle childhood cancer through:

  1. Travel assist programme
  2. Next generation molecular testing
  3. International second opinion and referral system

The team

Greystones United Athletic Football Club (GUAFC) is located in Greystones, Co Wicklow, and they have set a very special challenge for their players and coaches in aid of the Gavin Glynn Foundation. These guys know all about teamwork and what it means to have the other’s back.

InvestinU director Eoin (pictured with his son completing a run and cycle) has been a member of the club for over ten years as a player and as a coach, currently helping  coach the under 11’s team.

The challenge

GUAFC has set a challenge to walk, run or cycle to all 12 venues of the delayed EURO 2020 finals, all from the safety of a 5km radius, and to raise as much as possible for The Gavin Glynn Foundation.

Their main fundraising website page maps the team’s progress on the route to Glasgow, London, and Amsterdam and all the way to Baku (that’s the capital of Azerbaijan, and yes, we totally had to Google that.)  So, we’re talking about over 13 and a half thousand kilometres! Each team also has its own team iDonate page to track their progress.

You can check out their FacebookInstagram, or Twitter pages for more updates, and they’ll be using #guafcchallenge on their social media.

Rising to the challenge

On the 30th March the road to Baku began, and the team is off to an excellent start. With every kilometre journeyed, the children benefiting from the funds raised are a step closer to living a life free of childhood cancer. With every uphill pedal, they’re paving the way to a brighter future for those who deserve it most.

At InvestinU we are proud to support #TeamGavinGlynn and we applaud their journey. Their motto is NEGU – never ever give up – and we admire their tenacity and thank them for their commitment.
